Card Decks: Tarot Cards & Gift Sets

The Tarot has been used for centuries as a system of divination but also for personal and spiritual development. Generally most of the tarot decks contain 78 cards (22 Major & 56 Minor Arcana cards). These cards can be thought of as a picture book of life representing all the situations life brings.

When it comes to choosing a tarot deck you need to go for what appeals to you. There are countless decks with different themes and images. For beginners, we suggest any of the Rider Waite decks as they have lots of imagery and also have been written about in many tarot books.

You may have heard you can't buy your own cards, this myth comes from the time when there were no Mind, Body & Spirit shops and only the person teaching you could "gift" you a deck. Now with cards being so readily available everyone has access to obtain cards, books and products for reading the cards (although it is lovely to receive a deck as gift too).
